Senior Swimming Carnival

On Wednesday 30th November, Years 3-6 participated in a Swimming Carnival. We all hopped onto a bus and headed down to Mentone Grammar Swimming Pool. We participated in events such as:

  • Freestyle
  • Backstroke
  • Kickboard
  • Over and under
  • Freestyle relays
  • Brick challenge

The races were very exciting and I think all the spectators would agree. It was also good to see other people fill in for other people that were away.

Overall, everyone had so much fun and had an enjoyable morning. It was really nice to see everyone being so supportive and encouraging towards others.

Thank you to Mr Mac for setting up everything leading up to the day and the other teachers for all their encouragement and help. A big thanks to all the parents for giving up their time to come, watch and support the kids.

Joel N (Sport Captain) & Chloe P (School Captain)

With all the news about primary school children and learning to swim, Kingston Heath could not have picked a better opportunity to hold the Year 3 – 6 House Swimming Carnival. On Tuesday 29th November, 150 students clambered aboard 3 buses bound for the Mentone Grammar School Aquatic Center. The theme of the day; the same as it always is at K.H.P.S. Have a go, do your best, support everyone and most importantly, have fun.

Safe to say, everyone who attended followed the script to perfection. There were some fantastic performances in all events and judging by the noise (my ears are still ringing), the students were not only enjoying themselves, but also making sure everyone else did too. I thought the highlight of the day was the teamwork and support during the relays, but a very close second was the support from the many parents who turned up as well. The House Captains did a great job organising their teams, as did our Sport Captain, Joel.

Thanks to all the teachers who assisted on the day: Mr. Smethurst (Starter), Mr. Hewitt (Chief Marshal), Ms. Page and Mr. Kyd (House Marshals), Mr. Jamieson and Ms. Zeinstra (Finish Line), Ms. Wheatley and Ms. Heiberg (Scoring) and Mr. Starling (First Aid).

Thanks also to Wendy and her team at Bayside Aquatics for providing everything we needed on the day.
