It was really exciting to get back into the kitchen, and it was even more exciting when we found out the menu: some Potato and Vegetable Balls, a Pumpkin Risotto, Tofu salad and Sticky Date Pudding with Caramel Sauce.

All the dishes were really popular, and everything went together well. It was really delicious! It was interesting to use different ingredients like the tofu in the salad. We learnt that tofu is an alternative source of protein if you don’t eat meat products.

When we made the puddings we observed butter melting and changing state when it started as a solid and turned into a liquid. There was also a chemical reaction between the bicarb soda and the dates and water as it bubbled up in the saucepan.

It was a great lesson and we can’t wait till our next lesson!

Thanks to our wonderful helpers:

Rosemary (Mr Jameson’s friend)

Chris Chang (Ciara’s Dad)

Soula Stewart (Jemima’s mum)

Matt Leonard (Tyson’s Dad)

We also enjoyed having Annalise Leopold, a year 10 student on work experience, help with a group too.
