CERES Excursion

Most of Level Three went to C.E.R.E.S on Monday the 27th of July.  C.E.R.E.S is an environmental place where they recycle old things and put them to good use.  There were so many things to look at C.E.R.E.S, it was hard to believe it used to be a rubbish tip.  The people who worked there must have put in a lot of time and effort.

The first activity 3B did was the Eco-house, we went to the Eco-house because it had a lot of recycled materials and it was a very sustainable house.  The other two activities we did had a lot to do with our Unit of Inquiry, how we share the planet.  The activities were a tour of C.E.R.E.S and which bin?  I loved which bin, it was so fun.

C.E.R.E.S is a really good place to go if you want to learn about the environment.

On Monday the 27th of July we went on an excursion go CERES in Brunswick. l found out that you can recycle plastic bags or you can reuse them by washing them out with water and soap.

I really liked when we could sort out the rubbish into bins like recycling, compost, green waste and rubbish.

Next time I would like to walk around the whole of CERES park to learn more about the environment.

I could teach someone about lighting. For example  if you have windows facing north then you get the light/sun coming into the window and this will save on your power bills because you can get sunlight at all times of the day.

I also discovered that LED lights save more money than your normal lights because they are more energy efficient.

The excursion was really fun because there were many different activities such as visiting an Eco-house, going on a walk and looking at their gardens and market and also playing games sorting things into the appropriate bins.

On Monday 27th July, the spectacular level threes went to C.E.R.E.S to go on an environmental adventure.  C.E.R.E.S has changed over many years, from a quarry to a tip, into what it is now.  C.E.R.E.S is an environmental center for people to learn about how to conserve energy and reduce rubbish amounts.

In our second activity we did a rubbish bin relay and a rubbish timeline.  I had the most fun during the bin relay.  There were four bins: rubbish, recycling, compost and green bins.

I think we went to C.E.R.E.S because we need to increase the amount of things we recycle and reuse.

Level Three were lucky enough to go to C.E.R.E.S on Monday the 27th of July. C.E.R.E.S is an environmentally friendly place. C.E.R.E.S teaches different schools about ways we can improve the environment. C.E.R.E.S used to be a quarry and then it was turned into a rubbish dump. Finally it has been converted into the environmental park it is today.

We went to C.E.R.E.S because our unit of inquiry which is titled ‘our choices as consumers has an impact’.

One of the activities was where you had to put your rubbish in the correct bins. The bins were the recycling, rubbish, compost and green bin. I learnt that what you can scrunch up you can put in the rubbish bin.
