Cross Country 2015

Mr Michael Smethurst: Sports Coordinator

19 excited Kingston Heath students made their way out to Mentone Grammar playing fields in Keysborough for the Cheltenham District Cross Country Sports Carnival on Wednesday 20th May. After three weeks of intense training before school, the children were well prepared for their events. Everybody tried their hardest and it was very satisfying to see the smiles on our children’s faces after their efforts. Harry G (Grade 6) and Tejana J (Grade 5) are emergencies and may be going through to the Division stage which is to be held at Cornish Campus in Patterson Lakes. Let’s hope you get that opportunity. Good luck guys.

The final placing’s for each student were:

12yr old boys (3km): Harry 12th, Oisin 24th, Jaymie 45th

12yr old girls (3km): Taylor 17th, Maddie 34th, Jessie 35th, Ella 37th

11yr old boys (3km): Tom 28th, Jacob 56th, Rhys 61st, Andres 63rd

11yr old girls (3km): Tejana 12th, Alannah 51st, Rebekah 55th.

10yr old boys (2km): Joel 38th, Brodie 47th.

10yr old girls (2km): Ava 41th, Sienna 42nd, Justice 44th.

The highlight of the day was in the final event when there was only the last 2 boys left in the race (neither from KHPS) and our children were the only school at the finishing line to clap and cheer them home. This was observed by 3 teachers from different schools who said that was the best thing they had seen all day.
