Procedural Writing in Level 2

Level Two have been learning how to write a procedural text. The students learned that a procedure tells you how to do something. An example of this kind of text could be a recipe for how to bake a cake or a step-by-step list of how to paint a fence. The students also learnt that a procedure must include a title, materials section, method or steps and a conclusion. As our current Unit of Inquiry is ‘Where we are in Place and Time’, our writing sessions have been centred around procedures for how to use old pieces of technology. The students have investigated and written about various items including a discman, winkie, hand drill and record player. They have also written procedures on other topics, such as how to make their favourite sandwich. Here are some delicious examples by Year 2.
