Friendship Week Report

By Danah, Year 6

The last week of Term 1 was Friendship Week which included Harmony Day, Anti-Bullying Day and Close the Gap Day.  It went all week and each class was involved in a variety of activities relating to each of the special days.  Students worked together to learn some important messages.

It is fantastic that we have people from other countries at our school and in our community. They help us learn about different traditions, what recipes they use and lots of things we might not have thought of before.  Did you know that more than 45% of Australians were either born overseas or have a parent who was?

We should all treat each other the same way we want to be treated. That is what Harmony Day and Anti-Bullying Day are all about! Close the Gap Day is all about the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.  Some of the older classes learnt about how Indigenous people were treated in the past.

I hope everyone had a great Friendship Week and we all remember some of the important lessons we were taught.
